bouffant hair flattered my face way back in the 60s as did the makeup so I carried on wearing it a certain way.. and it always had to have height.. it took me ages to begind to try and change... I remember in the early 70s buying flared denims.. my very first pair... I was so excited about them... they were so wide you couldnt see my platform shoes.. and they had butterlies sewed on the flare part with glittery stones.. oh I thought I was beauitiful and wore them with a blue and white cheesecloth tie font blouse... there was no one like me hahahahaha. NOT
I have stick straight hair but from the time I could breathe I wanted Shirley Temple curls. So for me it was perming until well into my 30s. I finally gave up after I had my first kid. While I could never pull off 80s style "big" hair, I do have pics of me with "brillo pad" hair.
Also...since I've worn glasses for most of my life my choices in eyewear we not always the best.
More recently, I went through an experimental phase make-up contouring which didn't go too well.
In middle school my go-to uniform top to bottom was parted hair, a football jersey tucked in to khakis, with no belt (not that a belt would have made it any better) and tennis shoes. Not exactly a huge shocker here, but I was never popular with the ladies.

One of my bigger mistakes was getting a perm in my wavy hair. It damaged my hair in a major way and I ended up having to crop it pretty short as the perm grew out, so I never did that again.
Another unfortunate fashion mistake was the Nike hightops--left untied of course because that was the look where I grew up.
The main mistake that I made was caring what my peers thought of the clothes I wore. When I stopped worrying about it in 9th grade, it was like a weight had been taken off and I started to enjoy creating my own look instead of trying to fit in.
