Edit: Just wanted to say that what I'm actually looking for is a brief/messenger bag. NOT a backpack.

Like something Jim from the TV show The Office had. Anyone know where I can find something like that, that isn't too expensive.

I'm currently interviewing for jobs out of state. To carry my stuff elsewhere I usually use a backpack, but think this would look horrible if I came in for a job interview. Still, I need something to carry my resume materials and other supplies. I thought of getting a briefcase, but figure at my salary level (pretty low) I'd look like I was overqualified with a briefcase or just come off like a jackass. However, a professional looking backpack type thing seems like it could do the trick.

Anyways, anyone got any advice on where to get one? Also, I welcome some ideas for alternatives, but I'm kind of set on this. Thanks in advance to anyone who offers helpful replies

Just use a black portfolio. Under $10 at any office supply store. A backpack is not professional. Period.

I totally agree.

Get the zipper portfolio and while you're at it, some nice paper to print your resume on.

This is a good idea. Get a ream of heavier paper.

"Professional" and "back pack" don't go together, unless you're a professional hiker/backpacker, OP.

As the others have said, no backpack. Just looks too casual, non-professional, and really like a hiker or teenager. A good quality zippered portfolio is probably best, but there are nice handbags, depending on what you choose, that should hold what you need to take on an interview and still look professional.

I agree with the others. Leather zippered portfolio, and if you must have a bag, use a messenger bag.

Yes! Brief/messenger bag! I looked it up and it seems like what I'm looking for. I just said backpack because I honestly had no idea what they were called. Those are considered professional right? A portfolio just won't do for me. Anyone know how professional brief/messenger bags are and have any suggestions on ones to get?

Try Timbuktu or Rickshaw for cloth. I like Kenneth Coke for leather ones. Wilson's Leather is also a great choice.
