In Los Angeles County the jury summons includes dress guidelines. Although I don't remember the details, it's basically business casual.

What could possibly go wrong with this scenario?

Gotta love the American just-us system.

The jury has several duties. They must consider the facts and merits of the case. They must also consider the law or rule and whether it is Constitutional. The jury has a DUTY to do so. Most judges don't want "their" jurors to know this. Read about it at the Fully Informed Jury association.

This post is off topic. The question is what a prospective juror ought to wear for jury service.

If are going to insist on posting something that is off-topic and incorrect than I am going to be forced to correct you.

A jury has exactly one legal duty. That duty is to determine the facts in each case presented to them. The judge has the duty to instruct what the law is. The jury is supposed to follow those instructions. The Supreme Court and not individual jurors determines what is what is not constitutional.

**One more point. All that stuff you posted about juror nullification is crap. A sensible person will disregard it.

I was selected for a jury once (out of 3-4 times getting called to jury duty). I don't remember what I wore in detail, but I'm certain it was a nice pair of work pants and a blouse or sweater.

If you want to do it, you won't be chosen. That's just about guaranteed. I was on jury duty for 6 MONTHS last year!

Those courtrooms can be mighty cold! Especially if you are just sitting and listening for hours. And security is just like the airport and you will have to take off your shoes and all your stuff will be searched. Bring something to read, you will spend a lot of time waiting.

If you want to be chosen, look average, middle of the road normal. Nothing extreme that draws attention. There were over 400 prospective jurors in my pool and the first ones to be gone looked 'extreme' in one way or another.

AMEN !!!!!!!! One of the worst days (or, if you are unlucky, several days) of your life !!! I was on a stabbing trial one time that lasted 3 days. It disrupted my worklife, I got paid zero, and it was nowhere like you see on TV. We finally got to the time when we were allowed to deliberate and we basically all said "lets get this over with and go home !" I can't imagine the lives of people who are stuck on a trial like the OJ trial or one that lasts for months and months.

I was just thinking the other day that I usually get my notice to appear for jury duty around this time each year, and I dread going to the mailbox every day. I know all that jazz about "your civic duty" and all that crap, but it really stinks.

I don't think you are allowed to mention case proceedings. They run checks on all your accounts for confirmation if you are one among the 12.
