It is 2015, if you notice many people no longer wear wrist watches because everything is on their phone now. But do you think the SmartWatch will change that?

I have heard this many times, and it's just not true. Sure, some people don't wear watches many more, but there are millions out there who still do, including myself, and they will never stop wearing them. I know there will always be a market for simple watches. I just got a new one for my birthday a couple of months ago, in fact. There are many reasons people wear watches. I wear one because it's beautiful and elegant, and part of my wardrobe. It's more than just a timepiece. I also wear one because I can't have my phone on at work and I want to know the time whenever. My gf wears a watch instead of using her phone for the time. Most of my friends do as well. It's distracting pulling your phone out of your pocket over and over to check the time. And what if your phone dies? There goes your watch As for smartwatches, they just seem like overpriced useless gadgets to me.
This will happen more and more in the future. Jewelry will be popular among both sexes. They will have chips in them containing personal identification.
The watches are popular among men currently to accessorize.
New phones are 500+, and watches are done by famous designers, why not have a cool do everything watch.
Better yet get the females cool electronic bracelets.

I sort of hope not @ the bolded! But I agree... I don't think wrist watches are out of style. They are just evolving to adapt with the times and even Apple is coming out with their own "smartwatch". They're just becoming a different sort of fashion accessory.
Now the USE of wristwatches, I do believe, are changing. They're not just timepieces anymore, and I don't think that's a trend that'd sustain the test of time. They need to change and become more than just a way to quickly see what time it is. That's the real challenge with 'em. So on that front... basically yes to your question. I think smart watches will definitely help the wrist watch market stay relevant.

I agree with the others, the wristwatch is far from dead. Their use in the 25-30 year old group is much lower than the rest, but eventually these people strt to make a good living n buy watches as a fashion accessory, while still using their phone to tell time. Go to any store that sells watches, and you will see a much bigger selection of colors, sizes, and styles than ever before, and they are selling. For me, having to pull out the phone and look at it is a lot more effort and time consuming than to just glance at your wrist.
I was without a wrist watch for a few months and simply could not adapt. I hated pulling out my phone just to look at the time; but, then, I never use my phone unless I have to. To me it was a bother.
To each his own, but slapping on a wrist-watch is more than good enough for me.
Wrist watches aren't going anywhere. Pulling out a cell phone is cumbersome and the batteries die quickly.
