I was in Macy's today and saw a sweater that was marked down to $600-something from $1,600.

someone please tell me why anyone would need a $600 sweater let alone a $1,600 one.

my RENT is $614 and I could easily live for a month on $1,600 with plenty to spare.

Macy's?! That's hard to believe... So, was it golden with platinum embroidery?

It was gray. no lie. i stopped touching it as soon as i saw the price. I didn't want to have to pay for getting fingerprints on it.

Maybe the Macy's on Michigan Avenue is almost as high scale as it gets? (besides the one in NYC) haha.

Cool Very interesting

That can be quite common in some high end designer stores, Nieman Marcus, Nordstorms, Blommies, or Barneys but Macys? Wow they are coming up in the world I guess. What type of shirt was it? Was it designer? What was it made out of?To tell you the truth I haven't shopped in Macys for clothing in years. I only buy my make up & Mattresses there. However I was thinking of going to the flagship store in NY to pick a LV bag there since they started carrying LV bags there.

I can't remember the name, and I think it might have been wool? I don't know. I didn't see one thing less than $40, and I even saw a few skimpy shirts that were marked down from $200 something. I don't know, I got out of their fast.

betcha it was 3 or 4-ply cashmere, when the plies get that high, it gets pricey, I can only wonder who the maker was or if the Michigan ave store is expensive. Our Macy's here looks like a glorified K-mart, yuck!

Someone would buy a sweater that expensive because they are idiots.

That's a bit strong...don't ya think?
Someone IS going to buy it, no doubt (whether it's because of the designer, the price, the style or the quality)....it going to be someone which has the money to do so.
There are customers which do not worry about price, period, and have A LOT OF ZEROS attached to their bank account.
Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

I KNEW there was a reason I stick to the Macy's on State Street! lol

But seriously, that's a pretty hefty price for a sweater out of Macy's. There's a few stores on Michigan Ave where that price would not have shocked me, but Macy's? Wow, I guess.

Unless there's some special powers coming along with this sweater, there's no way I'd drop that much cash on it.

Sheesh..for that much I'd skip the sweater and go for the Coach purse.
