If she's a nurse, she most certainly is aware. I wish her great health and awareness. I work at cancer Hospital. Cancer is serious. All forms.

Yes, I'm a nursing student. We're taught extensively about skin cancer. I'm fair-complected so don't spend long periods of time in the sun. I'd just look like a lobster.

This is another important point I should have mentioned in my previous post - if one is fair with light eyes, far less sun is tolerated before problems occur. I am of Spanish background, and while my natural skin is quite fair I have extremely dark hair and eyes and produce good melanin, so I can safely be in the sun for a longer amount of time. Again, I don't specifically go "tanning", I just like to get what I consider a "healthy amount" for me personally which is usually when I am riding my bike or walking/working outdoors. I never and I mean never just "bake" for hours at the beach, etc. That is asking for trouble....

The worst looking people I have seen are those who both smoke AND do a lot of "tanning" - their skin looks like cross-hatched alligator skin, even at relatively young ages.

Yep, I'm Irish. Natural-born redhead (although darker now) with blue eyes. It takes very little sun exposure to cause a burn. When I was in middle school I had two burns so bad that my skin looked like bubble wrap. I'm extremely cautious now and hate that I let that happen.
