I'm a guy, and I've got a tattoo, and I wish like hell I'd never gotten it. It was back in my military day, I was 19 years old and everyone else was getting one, so I did too. Dumbest thing I ever did, and if thought it could be removed neatly and affordably I'd have gotten rid of it years ago.
They're much more popular in general today then they were back then, but to me, on a woman a tattoo is a huge turn off. Not that I'm actively looking these days, but I'm human and male, and us guys notice pretty women, lol. To each his own of course, but when I see an otherwise attractive woman with tattoos, I don't look twice.
yea, just asked my other half about his. He is almost 70 and hates them. He says he does want to get them taken off!
I think of tattoos as a return to primitivism. Primitive cultures often had body art, piercings, bindings, etc. It may be that as we move towards a more bureaucratized, regulated, and nannyized society that tattoos are not going away.
You're about as free to make choices as a caged hamster, but at least you still have your tattoo, your individual expression.

Yes, when I got my tattoo at 19, it was exactly that, an expression of my individuality. Now, at 46, I see it for exactly what it really was, an expression of my youthful immaturity and stupidity. But, to each his own.
If you want to have a few laughs, go on YouTube and put in Mispelled Tatoos. Either the tattoo artist was illiterate, or the person getting the tat was.
I'm pretty sure it was in the 90s, but would you say it was closer to 1990 or 1999 when it became widespread for women, even girly and soccer mom type women, to get tatted up?
I would say closer to 1999 to be tatted up. Earlier a few girls/women would tell you about their hidden, behind the normal clothing concealed single tattoo or might have one on the foot which would be hidden by work shoes. Since it ran for almost 20 years you can watch episodes of Law & Order and see how the detectives attitudes changed to the tatted up witnesses they encountered and check out the year of its production.
Per the forum guidelines at the top of this forum: no tattoo threads.
