Good morning!
GinnyGin, thanks for sharing your expertise!

I had permanent makeup done while still in Michigan. Done by an experienced gal that has a boutique in Franklin, right down from the cider mill. Custom colors blended (which really is the key) for a thin line top and botton of eyes and brows done. Moved to Florida where the heat will melt off any makeup and never regretted having it done!
Permanent makeup does not go as deep into the dermis as does a regular tatoo, so it will fade in time. Don't forget that the skin around your eyes is much thinner than the rest of your body.
And yes, you really do need 2 sessions to get the full benefit of the procedure, otherwise you are wasting your time.

I've had my eyeliner done and also my lips done twice. The lips completely faded and the eyes were done very conservatively and it is still there.

I went to a very experienced person that had done medical tattooing for a long time (mastectomy patients). I have no regrets.

Funny thing is, I would never get a "regular" tattoo. Yep, that's weird.

I made the decision to get permanent make-up because I was on call in my job. The ability to get out of bed and not look so scary in the middle of the night was a plus.

I've had my eyeliner done several times by different people. I still can't get my eyeliner color to stay dark enough to go without topical make-up on my eyes. I still feel compelled to add additional eyeliner before I leave the house. Any suggestions on what colors I could be using in order to make my eyeliner color stay true? I've had them done black, super dark black, and black brown. Each time, a week after they heal and the scabs come off they are a blue/gray. Not the color that works well with my very blue eyes. I'm looking for a deep dark brown or a black. Any suggestions?

I agree, this is great info! thank you! I am still toying with the idea of getting permament brows. I'd like to get tatoos, but like hairstrokes, not the skin underneath my brows a solid color.
I am very nervous to do this, since I have dark skin, I don't want to risk any scarring, and I have never had a tatoo, so I don't know how my skin will react to it.

They are all the very best in their field of work and some of the girls even teach Permanent Makeup.

This treament has changed soooooo much over the last 10yrs

You do have to check out you technician for qualifications and
see the work that they have done prior to you booking up with them.

Never go for the cheapest technician, ask why they are so cheap?

Other interesting things about PMU:
Eyeliner can be done in a sharp line, soft subtle line, smoky or even a 2 /3 clour combination.

Lips, you can have a lipliner, a lip blend(soft liner blended into your lips for a soft subtle colour boost to enhance your natural lipline) or a full lip colour tint that fills the entire lip and soft blended colours of your choice are added to the lip.

Brows, treatments are fantastic for people who have suffered from hair loss due to illness, or for those who have over plucked and need a definate brow shape to frame their face. You can have the older tecnique of powdered brows or the new Hair Stroke brows, that mimic real hair growth.

How long will it last, It depends on what coulr suits you(if you are fair and choose a sunny blonde for brows then it will last you 1yr to 18months max, if you are of darker skin and can carry a dark pigmented coulour on your brows they will last upto 5yrs(the darker the pigment the longer it will last)

Is it safe and cross contamination free? there are many machines on the market, we in the UK are banned from using some of the older pieces of equipment(in the US thre are still the old sorts available and in working order)
I would chose a tech who has a safe and clean standard in her clinic, that protects her handpiece from cross contamination(with a cover), and uses needles that are disposable or have been steralized fully.
you will have a test patch at least 48hrs prior to treatment, this is to check that you are suitable for the treatment.
you will have a consultaion, I know for sure that they are very strick in the US on this department.

You will chose the colour and style that most suits you.

Permanet Cosmetics and semi permanent makeup?????
Permanet cosmetics is the correct way (legal) in the US
the reason why is this, the pigment(colour) can stay in the skin for upto 5yrs, the product will lose it's colour and fade over time, the colour free pigment will remain in the skin forever(you will not see it after complete fade).

find a tech that has many years experience you will have the best natural enhancements.

tattoing anything on my face or body scares the hell out of me, because I know a time will come when I no longer care for it.

You can usually get a small bit tattooed at your hairline to see if you have any adverse reactions to the pigment (they don't use ink, like in tattooing) or any scarring. I was afraid too, as I get keloid scarring reallllly bad, but I've had my eyebrows done 4 times and it's still great I have them light enough that I have to go over them with powder/pencil for a night out, but I can leave the house without drawing them on and it's no problem.

What I recommend is treating it like you would getting any type of permanent marking on your skin. Look at the persons portfolio, find out if they're certified or belong to the National Academy of Permanent Cosmetics or any other large national group of specialists. The gal that does my eyebrows is a board member and served as an officer for NAPC. She also had BOOKS filled with her work (she also did surgery/masectomy patients).

Default Not permanent

Had eyeliner, lips and eyebrows done a few years back and several times since. Done by a very reputable artist. I am blonde blue eyed... black is the only eyeliner to use, everything else fades extremely fast, brown eyebrows, now you can see I have some. Had full lips done, never ever get the lipliner and no color. It all looks amazing.
However, it is NOT permanent, it might look good for six months after that fades to almost nothing. Its a scam by the industry to keep you coming back. Maybe use pigment the first time, but if you like it then why not permanent ink... WHY? Cause you will keep coming back and paying big $$$ to keep it. I am allergic to makeup but not to ink. Looking for someone to put on eyeliner on permanently not temporary. Permanent makeup is a flat out LIE. Its tempoarary, six months at best.

I don't think I'd ever get make up tattooed on, or eyebrows (my grandmother has had her eyebrows tattooed on for the past 30 years). For many reasons, most of them already listed here by other people, plus, sometimes I just don't want to wear make up and I like to be reminded of how I look without it (then again, the only make up I wear is eyeliner), plus lately I've been experimenting with other colors.

I'm 64, was tattoo'd as said in earlier post. No feathering around the lips.
Did the eyebrows a lighter black which have turned a dark gray, but, since I have let my hair go white, looks good. Some fading but not much. Had mine originally done probably 1996 or '97.
Again, love it and would definitely do it over again.
I wear ivory foundation, by the way, so any error will show up on my white skin.
So, if you wonder what someone looks like with it done at 65? Looks better than if I hadn't done it.
Do it again? Yes for sure. Love it!

I have a tattooed face, eyleiner, brows and lips. The lips have faded over time and need to be re-done. The eyeliner and brows are fine but I won't hesitate to find a technician to touch-up my permanent makeup again. It's a must have convenience in my life. There's nothing better than waking up and having my makeup done. What a timesaver!
