I'll be your BFF if you can just tell me this one secret of the universe. I'm 61; you would think I would have figured it out at this point. Just bought a black pair of capri's--Gloria Vanderbilt. Cotton with a little Spandex. Fit well in the dressing room. After wearing them for 30 minutes at home, wrinkles and bags/sags. How do other walk around in pants that fit? Is the trick to buy them a size small?

Sorry to hear, you need to buy size or so smaller to accommodate poor fabric resilience.
Just cheep and bad quality, poorly made fabric. Bad spandex resilience means there were a few technological steps skipped during its manufacturing to keep cost down. Higher end brands use better quality cotton/spandex fabrics that does not bag. I have a couple of "7 for all mankind" brand pants with cotton/spandex mix and they do not bag.

Yep... Cotton is not your problem. The spandex is.

I have a big problem w/spandex in (even if it's only 2%) - I try my best to shrink, etc. (it's hard to find my size and can't find smaller (at least that I like that don't have super skinny legs, etc.) - but not long after wearing a blend... they are baggy. Not going to waste the money anymore.

Any brand can bag/sag that has spandex.. though it does seem the more expensive brands bag less. Look for lower spandex content. NYDJ makes nice ones and you can find them on sale (sometimes) for a decent price.

And yes, in some brands, a size smaller works better. Just depends on fit vs comfort for you personally.

Thanks. I'll look at NYDJ, but the Seven for Mankind are $200! I'm way too cheap.

So why do they use spandex if it bags so much? And why I don't see more baggy pants on women? is everyone opting for more expensive clothes?
