Trying to avoid going to the dry cleaners every time part of my lunch goes on my necktie, or if any stain happens. Plus it's long overdue for some of my ties.
What do you folks do? Woolite? A Toothbrush? Detergent? gentle cycle in the wash?
If you have any good advice I'd appreciate it.
Some ties can be hand washed. Read the care label. If you do hand wash it, use Woolite and gently squeeze the water through the tie. Don't wring or twist it to get the water out. Dry it laying flat on a towel, with any wrinkles smoothed out. Sometimes it helps to pin it in place while it dries. And never, never attempt to wash a silk tie, those need to be dry cleaned.
It's a lot easier to just take your tie off while you eat, at least if you're eating in a setting where that's appropriate.
Yep, I'd either flip the tie over the shoulder while eating, or take it off when you can socially appropriately do so. So many ties, you have no real choice but to dry clean.
