There's no method of shortening jeans that is satisfactory. Cut or hem, they look ridiculous. Or my super-lazy ex-sister-in-law's method: scotch tape.
I've wondered if hemmed jeans would look ridiculous. Bummer. Although, I don't mind a little bit of overlay at the bottom when wearing jeans. I don't think it looks bad at all. Dress pants and slacks are a different story however.

I think so- because hemming changes the entire 'drape' of the fabric.

Look at just about any pair of jeans in a store. They have a hem. Do they look ridiculous?

True. I was just curious if having them hemmed even further after buying them would make them look off because of how they might drape and how the new hem itself would look compared to the original.

From my experience, yes, because there's quite a difference between a small hem put in intentionally by a manufacturer and the customer trying to deal with a few more inches.

That's what I was thinking. I guess most people wouldn't pay much attention to the hem at the very bottom as long as the drape of the jean wasn't compromised, but I sure would haha. It's all in the details

I am 5'4. 28" inseams would be capri pants on me. 31" works great for flats and slingbacks. I need 33" for heels.
