She's right. Going sockless is one of the joys of summer time, and socks with sandals is a giant fashion no-no. Going barefoot on the earth is actually healthy; there's chemicals in grass that, when absorbed through our feet, make us feel good.
If you wear tennis shoes and don't want to grate your skin or have sweaty feet, get the low-cut socks were the sock only covers your foot and doesn't go higher than your ankle. Also, men with nice feet are a turn-on!
IMO, she is just WRONG!
I detest the look of bare feet (except for my wife's), or bare feet in shower shoes, or bare feet in sandals, or bare feet anyplace except the beach.
Personally, I wear knee-high socks all the time.
I wear canvas boat shoes when fishing, and boots the rest of the time.
I am never bare foot in public, except, as stated, at the beach (which seldom happens).
I am very lucky. My wife knows how I am, and doesn't bug me about it!
THAT is the kind of woman every man needs!
In general she prefers to go barefoot all the time
Barefoot?
All the time?
As in...walking around on pavement, and on grass and other surfaces without benefit of any foot covering?
Unless she thoroughly scrubs her feet with a brush, hot water, and lots of soap before getting into bed, then she is a filthy pig, and you should point out her poor hygiene habits to her.
I can't STAND to see a grown man in flip-flops. So sloppy looking. Going to the beach or pool, fine. For anything else, put some real shoes on. Sandals, maybe, if they have lots of coverage, but not WITH socks.
If the socks are too hot, how about a pair of canvas or leather dock siders/boat shoes? You don't have to wear these with socks, and the canvas is breathable and cool. These look good on men in the summer, in my opinion.
