usually i figure out which way the earth is titled and I tip them the opposite way. I like to keep folks balanced.

My high school chum cuts or styles my hair, we usually do "trades". She cuts my hair and I restyle her clothes. We both are non tippers .

That makes it tricky! Does the salon have a list of service prices? So if it's $85 for color, $40 for a cut normally, you could tip on the price of each service in cash.

If the tip is being added to a credit card payment, you can usually tell the cashier how you'd like the tip divided. If it's being paid in cash, I would give it to each of them individually, 20% based on the cost of their particular service, with $2-4 for the hair washer (who IME is usually an assistant, not a stylist).

But personally, I prefer to see one person for cut and color.

Alright I tipped my stylist (first time visiting this stylist) 20% today, which was about $29 on my $145 bill. She seemed quite FLOORED so I'm kind of thinking that was a generous tip. She did a fabulous job so I was happy to tip her well.

I went to a new salon recently and they stuck a machine out after paying for the haircut. It offered 20%, 25%, and 30% for a tip. I was floored, although if it's a good haircut I will typically tip 20-25%.

^ I don't get that part. I feel like she should be giving me a gift for supporting her over the year. I don't give anymore for a holiday.

I find this comment interesting. Like literally 5 minutes?

I'm sitting in the chair for at least 20 and it's not like I'm getting anything extremely fancy nor do I (sadly) have an excess of hair. That includes the time to shave my neck, razor what gets razored and scissor what gets scissored. A few seconds for an eyebrow trim too and a final styling.
