Yep, right up there with that horrible "day old beard" look. A fruity as Carmen Miranda's hat !

Yes. I personally think it's silly to wear a scarf when it's not even cold. Anything above 50 and a scarf really isn't necessarily. Wearing one with just a t. shirt looks odd to me. A sweater is another thing. They do look better with jackets and coats though.

Perhaps if you go over the top with chandelier-style earrings. But, with simple hoops it could work!

I prefer large hoops...they are definitely more masculine.

Do you mean something like this?

I don't find it attractive, but I'm not in the scarf-selling business.

If you can pull it off, like it, and find it comfortable then why not?
Personally I only wear scarves for their warmth or if it makes the outfit look better and always with either a jacket or sweater.

I think it looks consciously stylish if the shirt is of a very light material. If consciously stylish looks effeminate to you, then their you go. See SFBayBoomer's pic for an example.

Then there is the theory, and you see this a lot in Europe, that a scarf makes a good transitional piece of apparel so you don't have to carry a jacket around when it is mild during the day, but a scarf over your shirt will keep you comfortable after the sun goes down. Combine this with the fact that European men tend to be more fashion conscious and it can look a little more affected than an American guy in a Carhart jacket with a fake wool, plaid scarf from Walmart.

That said, I often wear a scarf with a heavy wool shirt. I don't think that is the effeminate look described by the OP. I wear heavy wool shirts until jacket weather starts whch for me is around the freezing mark, and I will wear a scarf and a hat before I go to the jacket.
