And by "same clothes" I don't mean the same shirt or pants, but the shirt or pants in different colors, or own 5 of the exact same shirt and wear them each day. I hear the most successful people do that so they have less decisions to make and can focus on making more important decisions. I've been thinking about doing this. I don't know if it will make me more successful but this year I have given less crap about what I wear or how I look and just want to focus on my work. I have pretty much been wearing black leggings with a tank top. I have one giant sweater I'll throw on if it's cold. Other than that I'll wear gym clothes to work out and dresses on some days but those are not for working days.
I'm about to get a job (casual wear) and I've been considering buying cropped black leggings and 5 of the same black tank tops and a few black long sleeve shirts. I don't even find jeans as comfy as this.
Just wondering if anybody actually does this and did it really help your productivity? I have been eating the same things all the time too. I use the same grocery list and I only go grocery shopping once a month. I feel it does put me more in the attitude of "I'm focused on my work and lazier about other things."

Not for work. It's business casual color of shirt, rotate pants between 5 blue, black, and khaki. At home, I wear the same brand of jeans and pocket T's every day October-about May, the same brand of shorts and same pocket T's in summer. For the shirts and shorts I have an assortment of colors, but for me it's just a matter of comfort. My jeans are numbered 1-7, 1 being the Casual Friday pair, 2 is good for a casual meal out, 7 is for working in the yard the rest in between.
I do this with khaki type pants. I have the same brand and size, but in off white, tan, chocolate and grey. Same with t shirta., various colors of same brand and size.
IDK... you still have to choose what top to wear and what pants to wear, put them on, launder them.
I fail to see how different colors of the same style (as mentioned in the OP) would make anyone more successful.

No, I don't do that at all. I love clothes, so that would be boring for me. Picking out my outfit it something I enjoy doing. I don't find it time consuming or stressful. I guess it would be nice for some people though.

Are you overwhelmed by decisions that need to be made?

I pretty much do that. A couple of color combinations and close variants, warm one day, cool the next. I generally buy two pairs of the same style shoes, one pair brown, one pair black (I learned in the military always to alternate shoes so that they can dry out between wearings).
I do that with my pants, Banana Republic chinos in 7 different colors with either a nice button down oxford or some type of polo shirt.
The shirts are my chance to mix things up but the pants are the same most days. I also have a few pair of AG jeans that I mix in. They fit just right too, like the chinos I don't even have to try them on, always a perfect fit.
