I've always heard that it's because of men that women feel the need to use makeup, dress sexy/skimpy etc. etc. so I am curious, in a hypothetical female-dominated world how do you think fashion would change? Would women still have came up with makeup, skirts, dresses, etc.? Would such still be advertised heavily today? What, if any, changes with fashion would there be?
It is true but it is also a fact that women are crazy to look pretty to others. That's why they apply latest fashion trends to wear and make up which give them a stunning look.

I am sorry ... I sort of forgot that we were not living in a female dominated world? I guess the view out my window is a bit different then yours. I guess I am not feeling too dominated today lol. I am not sure if I would dress that much differently because I wear what I like anyways. Also to be honest I find men's fashion a little boring in general. I kind of like that women have more options for fashion then men. Right now I actually feel that we have the best of both worlds in the sense I could easily get away with wearing clothes meant for a man without getting too much unwanted attention, but a man wold likely not be able to pull that off as well ex. walking in to work with a pretty likely pink dress and matching heels. I actually feel that men unlike women are getting the shorter end of the stick when it comes to fashion choices right now.

Is it REALLY a male dominated world in 2016? Do you REALLY think so? Do you also think that fashion is influenced by what men want?
Your question/post is silly as fashion is not influenced by which gender "rules" society. Fashion would be the same no matter what.

I always crack up at "city slickers"...."hipster" or "earth chicks" thinking only high maintenance women do this stuff, so they don't bother.
I have $100 that says they never lived in a town under 10,000 people before....
women dress up for themselves and never to impress men...or ordinary woman I speak for.... Coco Chanel was one of the biggest desingenrs from the past and female.. Stella McCartney now and Vicky Beckham are doing very well... Elsa Schiaparelli,CLAIRE MCCARDELL , Valenitina and many man more...
I have an older relative who went to a girls' school. She said nobody wore makeup to school.
The girls in the local Catholic schools (which are all-girl, then there's usually the all-boy equivalent somewhere across town...or I think that's how it works) definitely wear makeup, and loads of it.
And all the hair is cut in the latest layered styles and straightened/blown out to Kingdom come.
I know because I often pick up my kids and the schools all close at roughly the same time window. We pass the kids from the other schools.
The girls in the all-girl schools are more than represented as far as "doing themselves up," maybe more so with the makeup and the hair than in public school simply because they (the private school girls) have to wear uniforms and can't really express individuality that way, who knows.
In my husband's day they called our local St. Lucy's "St. Juicy" and I'm sure it wasn't because all the girls were drab and makeup- and fashion-free simply because no boys were looking at them during the day or something.
