I really see no point in trying to look younger, but apparently that puts me in the minority. At 63, I have few wrinkles so far, but with salt & pepper hair and mostly gray beard. I'm happily married for 41+ years, have a good job and expect to retire here in a few years, and don't care whether people think I'm as old as I am. I have had a few people recently say they were surprised that I'm that old and "thought I was in the mid 50s" but I expect that is just typical kindness that they say to everyone.
Do you really want to blame the wife for lack of grooming? Wives are not mommies and can't tell grown men what to do. We can suggest, but it's up to the man whether he follows the suggestion or not. What do you propose we do, tie him up and force-groom him?
No, of course not. "You're wife lets you go out like that?" is just an expression.
At the gym we have a few older men - count them in one hand - that try to look younger than their age. They show it in their grooming plus clothing & the accessories they wear. The vast majority just look their age. And then there are a few others, not many, who wear gym gear that's a throwback to the 60s or 70s.
There's this old man at my gym who wears those short courderoy OP shorts from the 80s, and I'm just embarrassed for him. And then another old man who wears spandex with no underwear, and he's very well-endowed I just don't get that...
Sure - I would like to look younger.. but I am 65 now...with a woman who is 20 years younger....I am more concerned about aging than she is....she is just happy that I still have the older handsome thing going on...She enjoys the cool factor...that I am fun...and above all refuse to dither...that when I walk I do not think old like some men do....and remember it is all about the lighting...not to mention drinking water is good to keep you plumped out..as for drinking alcohol....drink lots of the hard stuff....then do not drink any for a period...and be lazy....this crap about exercise is over rated....napping keeps you young....be a lazy old man....but above all - BE A COOL OLD MAN.

I like it. I don't agree bout the exercise part, but the "cool" part I get.
