That's what I was going to say. No one is more glamorous than Miss Fisher and she wears pants quite often. Accessories are the key.

I want to know the inappropriate terminology that you used!!! I cannot figure it out!!

Anyway when I think of the 20's I think about the dresses flappers wear, the headband, and cigarettes. You probably wouldn't be the only woman wearing pants so you are probably fine.

Does this mean I have to wear a dress? Would it look tacky if I just wore nice black trousers and a dressy top?

I'm tall with relatively broad shoulders for a woman and not much boobs, so I [don't look good] in a dress.
It means dresses. Here is a link, and while there were women's pants during the 20's, it was for casual wear, not cocktail attire. Some good info in this link. Vintage Inspired 1920s Clothes and Accessories

I think that you could get away with leggings, or dark colored panty hose that might make you feel less exposed.

I'd do a bit of online research to get an idea, then head to the thrift stores. Broad shoulders were good, they used those pads in the shoulder of day dresses, so you'll be fine.

To me, "cocktail attire" means fancy, or dressed up with bling. I agree with those who think your figure as described is IDEAL for the beaded flapper dress, but if you go with pants, I also agree with the wide, flowy satin types, topped with a longer beaded top, and a long rope of beads. I love 20s theme events!
