It's not about velvet. I wouldn't wear a blazer, period. I generally wear flowing, draping fabrics with some stretch and give. I don't wear structured tailored clothing at all.

I'll wear velvet fabrics, but only if they fit my style.

I'd wear a velvet dress like this.

I love the feel of velvet, and the idea of it, and frequently look long and hard at pix in catalogs of velvet shirts, but somehow I don't see myself being able to carry that look off.

I own a fitted black velvet jumper (American jumper, meaning a sleeveless dress you wear a blouse under, not a sweater), which I wear about once a year. Since it is black it absorbs a lot of light and doesn't have that shiny aspect that some velvets do. I've worn it twice to be in story-telling shows, and once to a cocktail party.

I bought one in the 1980s...and I sill have it. I pull it out every few years and wear it a couple of times.

I'm not planning to buy anything for Christmas wear, but if I was I'd likely get lured by the velvet. I love this material with a passion.

I don't care for the feel of velvet, also if you spill something on it it's so noticeably and makes it crunchy the rest of the night! Although I think it does look gorgeous on some people.

I love, love velvet. One of my favorite fabrics. Such a shame it isn't more en vogue. I remember it was very popular back in the 80's.
