Fit and fabric quality are instantly apparent. The jacket has to be your size AND cut for your body type. Currently men's suits & jackets are cut closer & shorter with less fabric...in a throw back to 1960s look.
You want a sports jacket, not a suit jacket).
It is possible to go to Goodwill and buy an excellent garment. As long as it fits well & does not look painfully outdated, it would be a great deal. The cost of purchase and fresh dry cleaning would be considerably less than a cheap looking jacket from Target.
What type of business? Northern or Southern clime?
A Harris Tweed sports jacket in colder climate is the go to for a business casual environment.
A navy (not medium blue) sports coat light weight wool or wool & silk for Southern climate in winter is best choice. Chose a heavier weight wool for Northern.
Both are timeless choices.
You might find something suitable at Joseph A Banks. They are not high quality garments, but perfectly acceptable for a young man. If you are over 30, you might just look like you should be able to afford a better jacket. But if fit is excellent, you could pull it off.
