I agree with everyone else, but I think eye makeup is what really tends to make someone look more intense. I just put on some eyeliner, or use a dark colored shadow along the lash line. along with the mascara.
If you have a baby face, then you're still going have a baby face with makeup on. If you do want to look older, that probably has more to do with your entire look--hair, clothes, etc more so than just cosmetics.
Agree! The makeup is only a very small piece. OP you can experiment with more "sophisticated" lip colors - darker shades like plum and red tend to look mature. But all will be undone with an outfit that is too young. The easiest way to look older is to have more polished outfits and accessories. But it isn't a guarantee.
I tried to look somewhat older for most of my 20s and it didn't work. Now in my 30s I still look younger, but at least people think I am an adult!
Revel in it! Believe me, you will have more than enough years of looking like an old bag. Look as young as you can for as long as you can. You will be loving that baby face as time goes on!!!
If you have a 'high school shaped' face, you will look high school no matter what you do at your age. For an example of what I am talking about, watch an episode of the first-season of the show 'The X-Files' and look at Scully's cheeks and skin texture.
This is hard for me to visualize. I suspect you are seeing something that others do not see. If you look great with makeup, I think you just go with it. If you are dissatisfied with how your makeup performs, then experiment until you find what works for you.
Is it that you are using so much makeup that it makes you look as if you were a teenager who is experimenting?
Why do you think you look so much younger with makeup on? Give an example, so your question can be addressed.
Less is more with make-up. Skip foundation or use a tinted moisturizer.
Use mascara & eyeliner. That retro 60s eyeliner wing is silly looking if you do not have the expertise. Use tinted lip balm.
Get a good haircut.
As others have mentioned, I suspect hairstyle is a likely culprit. Styles like blunt bangs or center parts will make you look younger. Make sure you have a more sophisticated current hairstyle.
But a makeup consultant (like at Sephora) can help you learn contouring. When done correctly, it's very subtle and can give your cheekbones and jawline more definition, which can eliminate or minimize the roundness or baby face. DO NOT try to learn contouring on YouTube. You'll end up looking ridiculous.
