When I was a kid I totally had a 'style crush' on Lisa Bonet. Or maybe it's more accurate to say Denise Huxtable. I still like Lisa Bonet's style & vibe, though. And, now Zoe Kravitz's too.
These days, I like Nicole Richie's style. Sofia Coppola. Charlotte Gainsbourg. Janelle Monae.
And I like that thing Chelsea Handler does with mixing vintage rocker tees with fancy bottoms...an expensive looking pair of pants and a pencil skirt...finished off with a killer pair of heels or stiletto pumps. And her hair always looks great...effortlessly cool...and refreshingly age appropriate. She's not trying to do the Real Housewives mermaid/pornstar extensions thing to desperately try and look 20.
I really like the styles newcomer Carly O'Hurn creates. I follow her blog, facebook page and instagram. She combines vintage clothing with designer clothing she finds at flea markets and accessorizes them in very creative ways. She rocks a maxi dress. Just love her style. Coastal Fringe
In the 70's I watched many shows mainly to see the cool fashions.
Loved watching the show That Girl - Anne Marie (Marlo Thomas) she had the most beautiful wardrobe matching coats with her dresses, beautiful hats, purses, etc.
Watched Charlie's Angels every week because I loved the show, also to see what Farrah, Kate & Jacqueline were wearing. Loved all their fashions.
Also, watched All my Children because Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) was so great on the show, but also loved her fashion, had great style.
They didn't have all these clothing stores back in the 70's, the stores were kinda small, so were the selections. We had to learn to sew and made most of our clothes. I wasn't that great at sewing, like some of my friends, but was inspired by these shows.
I admire Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren. Both are elegant and chic. Kate Winslet tends toward understatement, which is rare and refreshing these days, and Helen Mirren is sassy and strong. Truly women of style.
