I hope this is the right forum to be posting this in. If it's not, please let me know where I should post it.

With that said, I have basically ruined 4 pair of my work pants over the past two months and it's really frustrating. Particularly, because I recently found some really comfortable Haggar No Iron work/dress pants at a local Ross store for like $15 each, but I only got to wear each pair like 10 times, before causing a rip/tear/hole in them. The problem is that I have issues with my lower legs almost-constantly hurting (RLS? Neuropathy? Circulation/nerve problems? Tendonitis? A combination? Not sure.) and I can't seem to hold my legs still for more than 20-30 seconds without it becoming painful. So, I end up moving my legs around every 30 seconds or so, and I do this over and over and over during my entire work shift.

As for my job, I work as a poker dealer, and there is a metal box underneath the poker table that my left leg repeatedly rubs against when I move my legs, and this has actually rubbed/worn holes/tears in to 4 pair of my work pants over the past couple months alone. This has not only happened to the Haggar pants that I bought; it also just happened to a pair of brand new Dockers khakis that I recently bought, after wearing them around/less than 10 times.

I had someone iron on a patch to the first 2 pair of Haggar pants that this happened with, and it looked like the patch (that I got from Walmart for like $1) was going to help and maybe allow me to wear the pants for a while longer, but the patch came off/stopped covering the holes after wearing the pants to work one time. I think this may have been (at least, partially) due to the hole/tear in my pants getting larger while I wore them that one time, due to my leg rubbing against the metal box underneath the table during the course of my work shift. So, that probably caused/contributed to the patch coming off/not being as effective as it should have been.

Obviously, I would really like to be able to get more/longer use out of my work pants, as I can't afford to keep buying new work pants every couple weeks. And I realize that spending $15-$25 on dress/work pants is relatively inexpensive, and that I'm not buying the highest quality pants; but I would think that Haggar and Dockers would at least be considered of fairly decent/good quality. Besides the issue of possibly needing to buy new pants after this happens, I'd also like to know what I should/could do with my pants that have already gotten the holes/tears in them? Is trying to iron on a patch the only realistic option to even try to repair and be able to wear them again? Can the material be cleaned and recycled or used for something?

Also, in the case that I may just need to try to find some more-durable pants, can anyone suggest some higher-quality dress/khaki-type pants that aren't too expensive? As I mentioned, I've been spending $15-$25 for the Haggars and Dockers pants that I've been buying; but if I could spend $30-$40, or maybe even $50, and get some better-quality/more-durable pants, I would be willing to consider it. As for the pants I need, they just need to be business casual/khaki-type dress pants that are black in color. I should also add that I used to buy the khaki-type pants that Walmart sells for around $12-$20 and I was allowed to wear them to work for years. So, they don't need to be fancy or really nice; just basic black casual dress pants.

If anyone has any advice, ideas, suggestions, or potentially helpful information about this problem I'm having with my pant legs, I would really appreciate some replies!

Also, I'm going to try to post/upload some pictures of the holes/tears in my pants below here.
Hopefully, they will be visible in this post.

So all these holes are caused by this one metal box? Can't you do something about the metal box? Like, put a pillow case over it, or some kind of a rubber topper for the sharp part?

Thanks for the reply, and for the suggestion, and that would be a good idea, except that it wouldn't be practical, as the poker room I work in has over 40 tables. And we switch tables every 30 minutes, so I often deal at 10 or more different tables during each shift. So, there would need to be padding/covers put on over 40 different tables, and I doubt the casino would want to do/pay for that, just because of one dealer who has a problem with it. Also, it's not that there's a sharp edge on the box; it's actually that my leg/knee area rubs on/across the side of the metal box over and over, and the repeated rubbing wears through the material of my pants.

If it's a problem for you, it must be a problem for the other poker dealers as well. Have you asked them about it? Are you seated or standing? Can you move a few inches? Is there some sort of band you could put on your leg at that spot, like a thick ace bandage?

This isn't a pants problem as much as a logistics/ergonomic problem.

Could you wear some sort of apron/protective cover that would be permitted? (Don't know about the security angle and the need to be completely visible.) If you're the only dealer with the problem, check with the others to see how they manage the situation. Are your legs longer or otherwise hitting the box at an angle that others are not? Can you shift your position re: the box?

Have you seen a doctor about this issue? That would be the place to start, IMO.

And $15 pants are not going to last long. But I wouldn't invest in better quality pants until you address the problem.

Sorry, wrote the same, but your post didn't show as I was composing and looking online for possible protective gear.

RLS is caused by a magnesium deficit. The most common Magnesium supplement, Magnesium Oxide, can cause loose bowels however. Magnesium malate has the opposite effect. Alternating between the two seems to work for most people. Taking folate also helps RLS.

Maybe sturdier pants like Dickies would last longer.

Getting ten wears from a $15 pair of pants equals $1.50 cost-per-wear. Please stop buying such cheap pants that only end up in the landfill. Shell out! Look for thicker weaves and better construction.
