Those styles aren't to get in the water with, but for exactly what the article mentions- a pool party. Just because they sell it, doesn't mean we have to buy or wear it.

My daughter has a version of the off the shoulder bikini and it looks good on her.

All the models shown in the link look so angry!

Probably because they had to put those suits on.

And they are starving, and overdue for their coke fix...

I wouldn't have worn a suit like that when I was young, hot, and single and sure as heck wouldn't look to the runway to pick out a suit now.

Thankfully, none of the women in my family are "fashionistas", so I don't have to worry about ever seeing one of those things on someone I care for.
Those "swim suits" make me wonder what kind of drugs the designers were on...

When I used to water ski, I was thrilled to find one of those "two piece with connector' suits offering the look of a bikini but security, after a couple of hard spills resulted in losing the top or bottom.

I haven't read all the replies but I see a lot of bathing suits like that on the beach here in Fort Lauderdale (by Las Olas) and they are usually worn by younger Europeans or South Americans and they look adorable.

Or sometimes at the swankier hotel pools. Not just on younger women but ones over 40.

I think it depends on your body, your confidence level, and how you carry yourself.

Personally, I'm 52 and wear a Brazillian on occasion but last time I mentioned that, someone body shamed me that my children (who are all adults in their 30s) are scarred and ashamed of me.

I no longer wear a bathing suit and have not in almost twenty years because my husband does not swim and neither do I . my mother who was a conservative catholic told us no women should be seen like that except by her husband . So we never were allowed to wear swimsuits past the age of ten . i see little point to wearing swim suit anywhere really . so i think you should wear what you feel comfortable in maybe cut off shorts and a t shirt with a bikini top on under the t shirt to go swimming in .
