"These garments are incredibly fussy and seem perfect for exactly one usage: Preening on a chaise lounge at one of those Las Vegas pool parties that charges a cover."

It's exactly what they're for, and preening on a chaise lunge bathing suits have always been a 'thing'. They have no intention of getting in the water, tho they MIGHT deign to sit on the edge and get their feet wet...But probably not. the concrete of the pool will fray that expensive suit. LOL

I have had good luck with Waterpro one piece swimwear. They have u-back, criss-cross, and racerback styles. Although I use this suit for water exercising and lap swimming, i think it is an attractive, modest swimsuit. It comes in plain colors, and in prints. I have found the suit to be pretty comfortable and easy to move in. I do question the quality of this suit. It doesn't seem to last that long. On the other hand, it stretches out after awhile making it easier to use the bathroom!

I purchased the suit from Swimoutlet.com.

Buying a swimsuit is a very frustrating campaign! So many of them are unflattering when you put them on. I finally found peace with two pieces. The one piece with the straps/cut outs actually made me look fatter.

I'll have to check them out. I need a new one piece for lap swimming. I bought one last year, but I wasn't really thinking and bought a red swimsuit. Its the same color and style as the swimsuits the lifeguards wear, so I always feel a little awkward wearing it. Like, no I don't work here so please don't think I'm going to save you and give you CPR if you're drowning.

I think what's really being channeled here is that everyone in the fashion world is ready for a Fifth Element sequel.

Same here. I look like Humpty Dumpty in a 1 piece.
