just wondering if it is worth the money-there are so many mineral powders around, Loreal etc.....that are much cheaper.
are they all the same? or is there a quality difference? is Bare Essentials really worth the money?

Ingredients make a difference, not all mineral makeup is created equal. BE has bismuth oxychloride in it and some people find that irritating to their skin. Some people love it though, and other than that one sketchy ingredient it is high quality makeup.
Loreal is not 100% mineral makeup. Many so-called mineral foundations are not purely mineral & to me, that defeats the purpose of using it (my skin is sensitive, so I like minimal ingredients). Basically they are just powder makeup that contain some minerals.

I use & can recommend Everyday Minerals. It's truly 100% minerals, priced much better than BE, and has way more color choices. Only problem is you have to order it online.

BE is way better than Loreal and Almay. Totally sucks b/c it's 2x as expensive.

I just saw a BE box set at Target today! It was for 49.00 in the make up section on the end cap. Has anyone purchased this kit from Target and is it worth the money?
TIA

The best mineral makeups will have the least ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, and Zinc Oxide are the basics.

Those other cheaper store-brands like Loreal contain a lot of fillers and dyes.

Bare Escentuals is one of the most expensive but you can get the same quality from another brand.

I would say it is worth the money to pay for better quality if you can't get Everyday Minerals or Aromaleigh or the like.

I use Larenim Larenim which I like. It is the same price as BE but without the bismuth oxychloride. I want to try another brand though like either of those above, or Afterglow or perhaps Earth's Beauty which uses arrowroot powder.

There are some reviews here by someone who tests different brands

I don't normally use a foundation but recently I tried Loreal mineral powder just to see if I would like the powder before buying the higher quality stuff, my co-worker said that she tried BE and it felt as if it dried out her skin. She does have sensitive skin and my skin is pretty much normal, so with the Loreal I feel that I can try the more expensive stuff as I do like the powder version of foundation it is so light and easy to use. This way I can chose whether to stay with the cheaper version if it all feels the same.

I love my i.d. Bare Minerals. I tried Avon and Loreal and it didn't set as well. So I went back. As long as I keep my brushes clean, it takes me about 6 months to go through a jar. I figure the cost evens out over time.

I HAVE to moisturize for any of the mineral products to work - we live in a dry area.

I order on line at Sephora. Pick up (when I go to Reno) at Sephora or Ulta. There is no one in my town that carries it.

Just a wee bit off topic here -- can you/should you use a moisturizer before applying the mineral foundation? If so, how long do you need to wait for it to dry before brushing on the foundation?

Thanks!
