I find all but the most close-cropped of beards to be unattractive and even then, only on a small percentage of men who have them. A little bit of "five o'clock shadow" can look sexy and define the face, but the full beards and the long beards that look like Rasputin repel me. This is just my opinion. Obviously some people like big ugly thatches of hair that trap crumbs and drink and get all sweaty and smelly in the summertime.
Beards aren't a fad. Beards naturally grow and have been around on humans for tens of thousands of years. Shaving was invented much more recently, its shaving that's the fad.
Get your facts straight.
Shaving was invented much more recently?
Romans shaved, and there is evidence of shaving going back to 30,000 BC. That's not very recent.
Have you guys heard of "No Shave November"? Both my sons and all their friend participate in this every year since it started.
We had a little thin short weedy guy at work who was young and he'd do that November thing and we all started taking to calling him an elf as he looked sorta silly. LOL.
I do notice more men have beards, but they don't really bother me.

(I wasn't worried about the chest hair since I figured I could hide that easily enough.)
He also told me that drinking coffee would make my skin turn black and I was excited about that idea.
Imagine how disappointed I was when I remained chest hair-free, beardless AND white.
When I was little I like to gobble up water melons and apples like they're going out of style. Then my grandma told me that if I swallow the seeds, they will sprout out of my belly button. I did change my ways and eat very slowly and carefully afterwards.
A beard is natural for a man. If men choose to shave, that is their prerogative but, simply because a lot of men shave does not make a shaved face is superior. PersonallyI think our culture conditions people to believe a "clean shaven" (a term I believe supports my opinion) is somehow "respectable" or, "civilized", "professional", choose your own terminology, when in fact it is a grooming style that is anything but natural. I'll keep the beard, my opinion is the only one that matters to me.
