The style is called an undercut, whether it's a male or a female with the haircut.
My daughter styles her hair that way. Her hair is very thick and takes forever to dry. It's also hot in the summer. We started just shaving a couple of inches with a design shaved in, but every time I cut it, she wants the shaved section to start higher up. It dries faster and it's not as hot. When she wears her hair down you can't see the shaved section at all.
Yes, my 63 year old mother has been doing this for as long as I can remember- she always wears her hair down in a bob and this way she doesn't have a triangle of huge hair. Plus, our hair is so thick that it won't dry all the way, esp. since we live in the humid South.
No to man buns - ugh. The fade cut looks good on certain women. The only problem I see with it is it takes a lot of upkeep to keep it that way if your hair grows fast. And growing it out can be a pain, especially for those who only do one side.

Yup, my hair is definitely high maintenance, every 6-8 weeks it needs to be cut. I'm also a bottle blond, so there's upkeep with that too. Growing out is definitely a commitment, so basically if a person has any reservations about going short or plans to revert to long hair in the near future, one should just cut to the shoulder
What do you think of these styles? I personally don't like them but whatever. What is the style for women shaving the sides of their head called?
I used to look at a Woman who shaved the side of her head as the type that, if you stay around long enough, you're going to at some point have to duck. Definitely a statement that she's a bit edgy, etc...
As for the manbun, yawn. Obviously, you can't wear it in some professional environments, but that's about the extent of it. Like any hair style, some guys rock it better than others. When messy, it doesn't look as good. Personally, I would look like an utter fool wearing one. But, I have friends that pull it off quite well. I think that being thin and having high cheekbones helps the look.
i love undercuts on girls but then again i also have dated girls with completely buzzed heads i thought were extremely attractive too. to each their own.
