Who else does not like beards on men. I'm a guy that loves women (straight). I see many guys where I live with beards, which I think are silly. I am clean shaven , shave just about each day. I like to be clean shaven no beard or mustache (my job requires this anyway).
So, what is the fascination with beards being cool? I think it looks unkept, or like your are from the stix, and silly. My ex wife (we are still very kind to each other and keep in touch), also told me she could not stand kissing me with facial hair and it being scratchy.
They even had a silly parade for some foolish bearded club of men here in my city. What do you think...
I'm not really too worried about this, as I have much bigger problems in life

Wink Dude...

If you're so 'straight' why are you worrying about this? I think you may be hiding secret fantasies...

OP, my wife told me long time ago that if I ever attempted to grow a beard, no kissy kissy, lol.
Not that I could grow a beard, probably a goatee, that's about it.
I guess some people like them and some people don't. I agree with you that they look unkempt.
But to each his own.

It's the trendy thing to do right now apparently. As far as looks go, some men actually look better in beards and i'm okay with them as long as they are kept neatly trimmed. But like your wife, I don't like the scratchiness of beards and much prefer smooth skin.

There have always been men who wear beards. You live in Charleston. Look at pictures of the Civil-War era commanders.

Of course, some people like Hasidic Jews, certain Muslim sects, and the Amish must wear beards if they are married.

There is a trend right now for all sorts of men to wear long beards. It's a style. It will pass in time. Getting yourself worked up over people's appearances is not really useful.

You say you're not to worried about this yet post a thread about it. I'm a straight male and I could really give a crap about what other men do.

Like anything else it's a matter of taste, for the individual and for their significant other. I don't participate in fads, but grew my beard in 1972 in my "Semi-Hippy" days and have had it ever since. My wife married me with it in 1974, and I have had it ever since, with no complaints (and 3 kids ).

My husband grows a beard every winter, and shaves it off in the summer. It's nice, like having two husbands!

What's with anything?

I wouldn't call beards a fad, but a trend. Fads go away whereas trends rise and fall. Facial hair seems to be on a 10 year on - 20 year off cycle for most of the last two centuries.

But if you find it hard to be attracted to men with beards, I am sure you can convince that special one to shave for you.
