I loved the original formulation of this, and wore it throughout my 20s & 30s. Last year I smelled the reformulation, and it was foul--total garbage. There's not even a hint of the glory of the original.

Save your money, unless you can find one of the old Pure Fragrance Sprays. The stuff in the new rectangular bottle smells like Raid.

Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon. It's the peanut note. Chergui was a close second.

My secret weapon for years has been Victoria's Secret 'Pure Seduction' perfume and body spray. I have gotten so many compliments on it through the years and men especially love it. I wear it outside of work and love it for nights out/shopping/when I want to feel sexy. One of my favorite inexpensive scents. There is now a 'Pure Seduction Night' version but it is terrible, nothing like the original.

Bobbi Brown's Beach

Only women compliment/comment on it. Other than my husband, I've never had a man comment on my fragrance, whether it be from perfume or body lotion. (My husband loves a lot of the Escada scents on me.)

I can't be around perfume anymore (darn); but when I could, my favorites were:

Emeraude and Shalimar

The old formula of Dune by Christian Dior. The reformulated version smells like insect spray.

I used to get compliments on Estee and Shalimar.

Haven't used a scent in over 10 years; worked in a fragrance free building -- the CEO was highly allergic and the company posted Fragrance free warnings everywhere.

Then I moved to an elevator condo building. Sharing an elevator with someone wearing perfume was not pleasant and entering a vacant one with a lingering scent makes me want to vomit.

So, while there are lovely scents, more than a teeny dab can be offensive!

Opium is still a favorite, only in the winter though. The other winter favorite of mine is Sexy Amber by Michael Kors. Tons of compliments on both.

Summer: Still loving L'Air du Temps and the compliments.

Someone told me a while back that if you spray the mist in front of you, and then 'walk thru it', you get just the right amount. Seems to work, and you don't marinate in it.
