About 99% of clothing is bought online through Amazon, mostly brands familiar with. Just get a few sizes at a time, try them on, keep the one that fits and send the rest back. Love it. Saves time and frustration going to stores, and often is cheaper than the same item at a store.
I buy clothes online; for me doing so is just an extension of catalog shopping which I've done for decades. So, it doesn't bother me to order from an established retailer via the internet.
While I do order from Amazon, I mistrust the sizing of the offered clothing and don't recognize most of the brand names, so I don't order clothing from them.

Plus, with higher end brands, you have to watch out for counterfeit items. Luckily IZOD isn't too expensive, so if I have to buy from Amazon, I just go for "Ships and Sold by Amazon".
I buy online and almost always from Chico's. No trouble returning items I don't like within their 60 day window. The website has sales the store does not. I will go to the store, check out the new offerings and try them on. Then I'll wait for a good online sale and pounce.
I discovered Jostar dresses on Amazon. They come in short & long and assorted colors. I can't tell you how many I have bought. And they are made in the U.S. I just discovered Vivienne long sleeved dresses. Just bought a few of them. They are also made in the U.S.
I LOVE Amazon-a bit too much. I feel guilty because I know shopping on-line is closing down retail stores.
amazon - for:
Household items
car parts
and some books,
makeup supplies .
Christmas gifts ( My DIL loves to send out lists and most items are quick to ship!)
Clothing- such as winter wear, (Mittens, scarves,Socks).
Not for Shirts, pants, dresses, sweaters, or formal attire.
Shoes and clothing are still done at the brick and mortar establishments.
I also buy costume jewelry off amazon and as soon as I get it I paint it with clear nail polish and I do that every 6 months of wear and guess what ?, I have pieces from two years ago that still look like new . Just a tip I learned a long time ago .I never buy clothes except for bras off amazon . I am too hard to fit and must look at the fabric to make sure they are good quality . I also read reviews on amazon before I do a purchase and also make sure returns are free . a lot of the vendors don't offer free returns on amazon anymore .
Because the government makes them. They aren't pocketing the money. Plus, you would pay sales tax in a store. This doesn't make sense.
