I will be turning 71 in just a few weeks. Over the past three years my vision has been getting worse because of cataracts. I voluntarily quit driving at night a few months ago. During the past month I had cataract surgery to both eyes and my distance vision is now better than 20/20 in both eyes. I still need eyeglasses for reading.
I am one happy camper. Those of us living in Lincoln, Nebraska are blessed to have so many excellent doctors in the area.
I no longer require glasses except for reading. However after 65 years of wearing them I can think of several times when wearing glasses probably saved me from losing an eye/s. After my recent cataract surgery my distance vision is better than I can remember. I love the fact that if I should lose my glasses I am not helpless but I want to protect my vision more now than ever. For that reason I will be wearing shooting/safety/sun glasses when needed... I no longer hate having to wear glasses. They are insurance now, not necessity.
