I LOVE aromatherapy and perfumed scents.

If a person always wearing perfume, or burning candles for a scent at home (beeswax), or misting a scent on the bed -- could that constant exposure to perfumes scents -- over time -- damage or alter a person's sense of smell? Could it eventually lead to not being able smell things? Or throw off one's sense of smell?

I'm not talking about a person who has allergies, that's a totally different thing. And I'm not talking about people who 'can't stand to smell perfume.'

I love scents...but have to admit I'm thinking it can't be "good" to constantly be exposed to unnatural smells, right?

Probably. Your sense of smell gets fatigued. It's possible that could become permanent.

You could end up like one of those old ladies that bathe in strong perfume so that they can be smelled from 200 feet away. Surely, they can't be aware of what they smell like.

That's exactly what I wondered about.

Some spray fragrances are banned in certain European countries because they've been found to cause cancer. Inhaling all those chemicals can't be good for you.
