Well, I’m new to this topic, so I’ll take a stab at it.

I think ALL men, regardless of age or race, look sexy in black, but that might be too hot in PR.

I like gray, the medium & darker shades, especially gray on the blue end of the spectrum, no light, pale gray.

Pure, jewel colors...fire engine red, cobalt blue, deep green...think green in a forest, not St. Patrick’s Day green; maybe a darker shade of purple, not bright purple; possibly a darker red, the color of a garnet stone.

Are his eyes blue or green? If so, choose a shade of blue or green to play up the color. I had a boyfriend with amazing green eyes...when he enhanced them with his clothing, well....

Absolutely no shades of brown, no orange, no white.

P.S. If you get tired of your pink shirts, I’ll take them & I’m a girl.

For my older cousin in California for his birthday, I bought him a Bloomin' Brands (Outback, Carrabba's, Bonefish, and Fleming's) gift card, since he really likes Carrabba's and always eats there every time he visits his mother/my aunt in Virginia. For my brother's recent birthday, I bought him an emailed Amazon gift card.

Note that one of the shirts I bought for my grandfather (the one I bought for his most recent birthday) was not a polo, but an IZOD Newport Oxford Pelican Print button down shirt in Fairy Tale.
You are very generous to your family and friends. That's a rare quality these days, and I hope your giftees appreciate it and you!

Or the preferences of some complete strangers.

But, lavender, OP.
I promise. And I would totally know

Well, it can be the thought that counts and you sound like a thoughtful gift giver. Hawaiian Ocean sounds like a gorgeous color and I bet it's a hit. As long as the necessities are taken care of, who wouldn't want a gift for themselves, too?

Maybe this year, he could use some solar hanging lights instead. My DIL is sending some to her parents in PR. Saves on the generator.

A battery operated or LED lantern would be a good choice as well. The LED ones last a long time and are very bright.

You said he likes green and he golfs. Buy him anything he could use for golfing that is green.

Problem solved.

If he likes green, get him a different shade of green. Someone got my husband a pink polo shirt years ago and it REALLY looked good on him, especially when he had a tan, but he refused to wear it because it was pink. I wish he wasn't hung up on that, but he is.
