Interesting how if you say 20s or 40s a lot of images can come to mind, but if you think of the 30s...? Just the great depression?

longer skirts come to mind.

Also when I see movies from the 30's, women don't seem to be wearing bras a lot. Even older women, when there is a scene where they are in evening gowns, there is a visible lack of support, IYKWIM.

I don't think the 1930s were great when it comes to fashion. In fact, I think a lot of 1930s clothes were flat out ugly.

Ugly shoes, ugly hats, ugly hem lengths, and any woman over about 35 seemed to dress like she was 75! I'm sure there were exceptions across the board but that's my general impression.

And it seemed like men wore their pants up really high on their waist. LOL

Long skirts and unattractive female hairstyles.

No. Some of the most beautiful, flattering fashions, makeup and hairstyles that ever existed. Just watch some movies or look at some mags from the 1930s.

Floaty, gauzy, or sporty outfits....beautiful shoes...absolutely wonderful hats.

The "Hollywood" 1930s fashions were gorgeous - gowns cut on the bias, lots of sparkling stones, swirly chiffon, etc. Women's hairdos were mostly short and wavy. Lots of art deco jewelry.

The everyday 30s weren't as glamorous - but some of the styles were fun - short tie tops with high waisted palazzo pants, and nautical styles (sailor type looks).

I think of dresses/skirts that have belts or are simply cut to accentuate the waist.
I like the 1930's Evening Wear/Hollywood look.

I think of three stooges. Although I believe they started in the 20s, I think of them whenever I try to envision anywhere from 20s to 40s haha.
