[quote=Pink Jazz;50593194]I like buying gifts for friends and family, but two people that I have never bought gifts for before are two second cousins who live in Florida. I would like to buy them some clothes for their birthdays this year, but I would like some ideas other than polo shirts. Both of them are younger than me, so I wonder what young guys would be into.
If I have a hard time choosing clothes for them, should I go the gift card route instead? This is what I usually do for my female friends and family, my brother, and my first cousin in California. For example, I bought my brother a Nike gift card, my first cousin in California a Banana Republic gift card, and my cute first cousin at MIT a Forever 21 gift card for Christmas.[/QUOTE
Gift cards! My adult kids like them. They use them to buy clothes.
Today I decided to call their mother, and she said that they would be fine with whatever I buy them. If I decide to go the polo shirt route, perhaps a blue polo for my older second cousin and a pink polo for my younger second cousin.

Only if they are into the preppy look or need to wear polos for work. My son nor any of his friends wear polo shirts to relax around in or to wear to most social occasions. Casual button downs or plaid shirts seem to be pretty popular, if you don't think you can bring yourself to by a t-shirt or some other type of pullover.
Pink may not be a acceptable color for most guys. My son won't even wear light aqua blue, said it looked like a girl color, his friend agreed, OK, I guess the the t-shirt is mine now. He usually doesn't care what he wears but there is are things he just says no to.
I don't even know what the right choice of clothes is for my own son most of the time. Send them a gift card, or a gift that can be exchanged.
Reading this, aside from the usual dissonance I have, I realized that I don't even know any of my second cousins let alone think I would have to buy gifts for them.
Mrs. NBP, who buys gifts for damn near everybody, doesn't know hers either.
I have two sons in the age range of those second cousins and neither one wears polo style shirts except as part of their work uniform. Also, as mentioned, don't buy anything pink for either one.

A lot of people I know actually hate polos for this very reason. So many businesses use them as uniforms. People don't want to wear them outside of when they absolutely have to.
gift cards, but make it like visa or master cards that you put money on. How do you know they need clothing? Believe me they will appreciate more the visa card they can spend on whatever they want then a store card or God forbid, clothes.
