Nope, I don’t think it’s silly at all. I think it’s great. Why should fun colors be reserved for young people?
When I go grey I intend to have violet tips. For starters.
Honestly, does anyone else feel that it is kind of ridiculous for older women (35+) to have unnatural hair colors? I was at the store the other day and there was a woman that was probably mid 40s that had purple hair. Just seemed as if she was trying way too hard to look "young" and "hip".
LOL. 35 is older, is it? What are you, a 12 year old boy?
No, it's not ridiculous for women of ANY age to have their hair any colour they want. These days I know women of all ages, including many in their 70's, 80's and 90's, who have all imaginable hair colours including vivid rainbow streaks over pure white. I can 100% guarantee you at that age they don't do it to try to look young and hip. They do it because it's fun for them and it gives them cheer to make a personal statement and to express themselves to the rest of the world with colour. That's why women of all ages do it.
But I'll tell you what IS ridiculous. It's ridiculous when some judgemental, criticizing youngster has the nerve to want to deny older women of the colourful pleasures that bring them so much enjoyment.
Oddly-colored hair has been around for decades. In fact, the late 30's - 40's were probably the first ones to do it as teens. It's hardly the property of 20-year-olds today, so "young and hip" doesn't come into it.
Some people just like creative hairstyles. What is wrong with that? Why is there supposedly some deep-seated psychological flaw needed to show off your own sense of style?
Just seemed as if she was trying way too hard to look "young" and "hip".
So generally everyone over 22.
Some people can pull it off, some can't. 18 or 81, it's all about the individual. Too many factors and variables to consider. People are way more complex than that.

What a ridiculous judgement to make about a complete stranger! Why does this matter to you? Regardless if the hair color looks OK on them or not, its their choice to make. Who ever said there's a time limit on personal style? If we all made the same style choices at the same times in our lives it would be a pretty dull world wouldn't it?
I'm 62. Guess I'll go out and dye my hair green because of it...no, wait, maybe it should be red...or maybe yellow...no, wait, black to cover up the grey. Aw heck, nothing is worth all this mental anguish.
I saw a very elderly woman (45+) with fire red hair. She was very attractive and stood out like a Corvette on a Volkswagen car lot. I say go for it.
Very elderly at 45+?
Good lord, are you 4?
I don’t think I’ve ever thought of very elderly anything being in the 40’s.
