I like 3/4 sleeve best and since it's always cold in my office, that works for me all your round. I do wear long sleeves in winter but tend to push them up, esp because my arms are fairly long so they are often a little too short so it's just easier to get 3/4 sleeves and be done with it.
I also have a large number of tanks and camis but those are layering piece under a sweater.
Cap sleeves can be cute but a lot of women, esp. as they get older, don't have the best upper arms and cap sleeves tend to emphasize the negative.
Any type of sleeve that doesn't hug my fat upper arms, but covers them! When you (meaning me) have wings, you want to cover them so when you wave goodbye, you don't take flight!
Tank when it's hot, short sleeve when not so hot, long in winter.
What's with the open shoulder or worse. the closed shoulder but open to the elbows? I'd either be too hot or want a sweater on!
Am I the only crazyperson who thinks this sort of thing is fun?
Fashion is fashion. It isn't necessarily meant to be functional. It changes all the time because people change all the time. It's sometimes whimsical and artistic because people are sometimes whimsical and artistic.
I can laugh at fashion at times to be sure, but I totally "get" it. It is not meant to just keep us either warm or cool or keep things in place. It's meant to explore, be creative and have fun. Or to pass by it it's something we really don't like...we have a choice, which is IMO also part of the point to fashion: loads of choice.
My forearms from wrist to elbow look good, but from elbow to shoulder my arms don't look good. So it's elbow length sleeves for me. Sometimes 3/4 length.
A Dolman sleeve refers to the way a sleeve is structured. Cap sleeve refers to the length of the sleeve. They are not synonymous terms.
OK, my mistake. I like both styles.
