I used to wear red dresses when my late husband took me out to dinner for Valentine's Day. Pink, to me, is an unsuitable color for anyone over the age of 10 or so. Certainly it's not a good color for most adult women, IMHO.
I wonder, what is your fashion preference for Valentine's Day - Pink or Red?
I prefer Pink for Valentine's Day. I do Red for Christmas.
I'm not really concerned about what is fashionable but I'm interested in colours from the perspective of colour therapy and how colours effect the subconscious minds of both the wearers and the viewers of colours. So if I was choosing specific colours for special dates or occasions then from a colour therapy perspective I'd choose red for Valentine's Day because of what that day represents.
Red is for inspiring powerful self esteem and confidence, energy, wakefulness, strength, heat, vibrancy, romance, passion, sexual arousal and endurance, exotic interests, physical activity and stamina, laughter, dancing, strong infectious emotions, stimulating appetite for abundant food and strong drink. If it's the wrong shade of red it can be aggravating and cause raised blood pressure, agitation, anger and physical inflammation.
Pink is a watered down version of red but it has the opposite effects of red, it's good for calming, soothing and toning down the above noted emotions and physical responses. It's good for treating mental health issues like OCD behaviours, depression, sadness, dementia, loneliness, anger, bitterness, grief, paranoia, fixations, fanaticisms, delusions, hallucinations, gender confusion, eating disorders, addictions and withdrawals from addictions.

I picked red, but I'll probably actually wear a burgundy lace sleeveless top with a black velvet jacket over it and a dark burgundy and black paisley silk skirt with boots. Wine colors look better on me than bright red.
As a side note, I just ordered two shirts (a striped polo and a T-shirt) on Amazon in my favorite shade of pink (Fairy Tale) that interestingly Amazon says will be delivered to me on February 14. They aren't in stock yet, since they were just posted on Amazon today. I used my Amazon gift cards that I got for my birthday and Christmas.
That's why I said "IMHO". BTW, I had pink sweatshirts or tunics more in mind than the Queen's tasteful ensemble, which looks very nice. If I looked that good in pink, I might wear it too.

I do have a pink hoodie and pullover fleeces; I might wear the pink hoodie over my pink polo in the morning.
