"Everyone on these forums who makes a negative statement about any subject whatsoever seems to be criticized for being "judgmental". What is the purpose of the threads and forums if people can't express an opinion without getting blowback? So, someone says they don't like capri pants and immediately they are criticized for stating a negative opinion! I get really, really tired of hearing people jump on other people for expressing a negative opinion about a certain type of clothing or anything else. Why is your opinion the "right" one and other people's opinions aren't? I think we are supposed to be allowed to express either opinion...pro OR con."
Thank you for that; so ridiculous. Or the label "negative," which is also meant to shut down any meaningful discussion. In my lexicon, "judgmental" isn't a bad word; we're supposed to exercise judgment!
Yes, exactly this ^^^^. There is a huge difference. For instance just saying "I don't care for capri pants" is simply your opinion, which is fine; but if you say "Capri pants make everyone look stumpy, frumpy, ugly, etc. (as has been stated by MANY in this thread) it is judgmental and condescending and NOT a "fact."

Yep.
Saying that one doesn't like something is an opinion. Saying that someone else who does like it is stupid is also an opinion. Not a fact. Not universal. And any statements suggest that their opinion is fact is what will get push back.
If someone stating that "Capri pants make everyone look dumpy" offends you, just mentally insert the phrase "I think" in front of it and, like magic, it's an "opinion." Problem solved!

OK then, "I THINK" some of you people are condescending and judgmental - and that is MY OPINION!

The women who like capri pants and are threatened by other people who don't, well, you need to chill.
The original and subsequent OP posts didn’t say “I don’t like Capri pants”. In fact, on some Internet forums, it would be considered a perional attack, if it were said to an individual directly instead of written as if it was being said to a vague group of nobody in particular.
I think every single person looks fabulous in capri pants... and the world would be a much happier place if Wall Street, Congress, the president of the USA and his wife, doctors, lawyers, circus clowns, the cast of The Walking Dead, small children, and even pets had to wear them.
The people who live on the island of Capri are exempt, ironically. Keep those ankles covered.
