As long as there are men who like "big hair", and there are many, big hair will be around.

Anyone remember the trend of wearing "rags" in their hair? That's what they called it. It got it very curly and very big afterwards. I think I did it once or twice.
Yes, I remember that and also wearing damp braids to sleep so when you wake up in the morning, your hair is full, wavy, soft, and shiny!

My shoulder-length hair does what it does. Wash, finger comb into place, and I'm done. I think natural is best, whether that's curly, wavy, or straight. I'm long over heavily-styled hair. If it requires "product" then no thanks!

It's nice that you have that choice. Some of us do not, without going to extreme measures to change the very nature of their hair.

People with curly hair have used harsh chemicals to attempt to make their hair straight. I have a sister in law with beautiful, big, curly hair who used to IRON her hair, when she was in HS and long, straight hair was in style.

My hair won't become full or wavy with blow drying. It might stay wavy for a few hours, but the work that goes into it, is just not worth it to me.

In the 1980s, there really were styles for people not blessed with very full, curly, hair. No amount of Paul Mitchells "Freeze and Shine" would make my hair big.

So, I permed it. The first thing I need to say, is that at least to me, permed hair does not look naturally full (big) and curly. It looks PERMED. Does anyone else think that? It has a fake look.

I had very long hair in the 1980s and I wanted it BIG - like everyone else. So I had it permed at a reputable Salon. It broke off! I ended up with a spikey Pixie cut, with bangs, that thankfully, looked good on me. I kept my hair short for quite a while. Not everyone wants or looks good in very short hair, but being in my 20s and wanting to stay on trend, it worked for me.

I really think that today, no "type of hair" is out of style. The trick is finding a good hairstylist and a cut that makes the most of what you have.

Yes I think big hair will come back. Maybe not as harsh with all of the hairspray but everything comes back at some time or another. I'm still waiting for the Farrah hair to come back. To me that was the prettiest error for hair. Very soft looking.

I agree....I really hate stick straight hair. It is so boring, lol. But OMG no to perms. I got one when I was 17. I cried, lol.

How do you do sausage buns?

I hear you. To all the females with naturally big hair One of my friends went to my haircutter. When asked how she heard about them she told them about me. Two stylists said "oh the woman with a ton of hair" That's how I am known on that parlor.

Like everything else that has been making a comeback I'm sure we will see "big hair" again.
