It is very unpopular with me. I know it is not a fashion, but It really bothers me, that both men and women let their butts hang out. I guess this is the only place that I have found to vent
It's an unpopular thing to do. Your dislike of it, which speaks to the original question, is pretty close to universal.
Just came on to post about bra straps, but another poster beat me to it. Hubby and I went out to eat last night. A woman and her husband walk in. The first thing I noticed about her, were her dingy bra straps. Otherwise she was dressed very nice, which was wasted, because all we could see were those bra straps
I used to feel self-conscious about bra straps showing but no more. I have narrow shoulders so everything falls off of them. When it's 98F out with humidity of 110% I want my clothing light and loose-fitting. I have a few tank tops with skinny straps that I like to wear. I'm a senior citizen and wear 34-38 DD with boobs down to my waist so there ain't no way I'm NOT wearing a bra. My work around is to get wildly colorful bras to pair with the tank tops so it looks like the bra straps are part of the top. This works most of the time.
Speaking of unpopular fashion looks, I have shoulder-length hair and when I'm home or just running errands I put it up in a ponytail. I look young for my age so I really don't think about it--when it's hot out the ponytail keeps the hair off my neck. A few weeks ago the thought occurred to me how strange this must look to others--a 67 year old in a teeny-bopper pony. There is a picture of me floating around of me and my boogie board that I dubbed, "Gidget 50 Years Later."
My aunt once told me I should cut my hair. My response was why would I want to do that--it would make me look my age. There are days when I look really good and people can't believe how old I am--then there are other days when I look like my dad in drag. Oh well....

Maybe I'll cut my hair when I turn 70.....
There are exceptions to every rule. You sound like you wear it well
Unpopular opinion; skinny, high waist jeans look horrible except on 0.0001% of women, and for men, please no (though i do not think on men that is an unpopular opinion, lol)
Problem is, seems the high/medium waist, skinny jeans is the only thing stores sell. How about getting some low/very low jeans with flare?
Au contraire, my friend. It's the 0.0001% that can successfully rock a low/very low waisted jean with flare. You gotta be tall and have a boyish figure to pull it off.
Low-waisted jeans and boot/flare jeans didn't work for me back in the late 1960s (when I had a figure) and they don't work for me now. Flare jeans make a short woman look even shorter. Low waisted jeans either produce a muffin top for those who've packed on a few pounds, or like us curvy gals, they fall off because to get the size to fit the hips comfortably the waistband is too loose.
I read through 3 pages and feel like this is about criticizing other people's choice of attire. I get it. You cringe. I cringe, too.
Went to see Zac Brown Friday night. EVERY FEMALE UNDER THE AGE OF... I dunno...30? decided to wear as little as possible without actually wearing skimpy beach attire. And 90% of them were cringe-worthy. What's so sad is they are certainly attractive but there are so many things that would look SO MUCH better on them.
That 10% that could pull it off? They were built for those clothes and they wore appropriate sizes. Cute as buttons.
The rest? Skanks. Sorry. I'm far from fashion maven but I could go through catalogs and pick out cute outfits that would make them adorable and sexy and NOT skanky.
The few that wore clothes that exposed their butt cheeks? They are in a different category. I guess that would be my dislike.
My unpopular opinion:
The recent practice of men of all ages wearing suits tailored tight that makes them look like Pee Wee Herman wannabes - though often with a worse physique - complete with high-water pants looks ridiculous.
I probably have too many to list as I don't understand a lot of trends but my top one is that we should generally be able to wear whatever we want to an interview particularly to a retail job (within reason of course..don't come to an interview with your puppies hanging out). I will never understand why they want you to wear button shirts or similar when you don't normally wear them. It is basically just a way of proving further that they want you to be something you're not. You should be hiring someone for being the best to do the job not whether they can dress like they are expected to. In a lot of those retail jobs they also give you a uniform anyway or have you wear something slightly different than what you wore to the interview. Why spend the money on something you're only going to wear a few times a year?
At best if you're expected to dress nicer for an interview why not one of your best outfits that are already in your wardrobe? This is one reason why I feel so weird at interviews. I'm just sitting here like "am I enough of a Barbie girl for you?" Maybe I should start singing the Barbie girl song (oddly enough I do like that song) I detest plain shirts esp button ones but somehow they want me to wear them. Also if it's extremely hot outside they still want you to come in with pants or long dresses.

Hate is a strong word here for me but I find that trend stupid too. The only time I have worn ripped jeans is when I was painting so I don't mess up a nice pair. There is a positive if you can't afford to spare the money to get new jeans you might be able to wear your worn out jeans without anyone questioning them

I couldn't "show off" anything even if I wanted to. I know I'm not fat but I'm not trying to show off my post IUD pudge.

I don't particularly like them on men, either, but I cannot for the life of me understand why any woman would walk around with one of those things on her head.
I have to wear a cap for work. I hate it. The worst is it doesn't work well with my long hair too.
I generally don't like wearing anything on my head except hair and hair ties though but caps are probably the worst.
