I'm imagining if a guy came home and told his wife that he liked how another woman smelled, her reaction would be more along the lines of "what a weird thing to tell me," and not "well, I better go try to smell like that, then."

I’ve had guys at work ask what I was wearing, they liked it enough to want to buy it for their wife or SO. I just thought it was a nice compliment.
Guerlain will have something for sure. The iconic Shalimar has been around since the twenties and has a lovely feminine fragrance, one of my faves. Les Parisiennes is a very nice floral fragrance, pretty bottle too.
Go to Macys, Nordstroms, etc. and speak with a clerk at the perfume counter. They can give you the latest info on what is popular and can help you in choosing a fragrance. Some stores will allow returns/exchanges, if your wife doesn't like it. You should also choose one that you find especially attractive. I enjoy wearing perfumes that I know my husband likes. Good Luck!

You are so right and time others found out the truth about the junk in perfumes and what their paying for this petro chemical rubbish that makes others ill.
