Every strip mall has a nail salon it seems (conditioner, clothes, thin)

Don't wanna get a professional manicure or pedicure? Don't get one ... and mind your own business.
I do. But I was commenting on my opinion. Which I am allowed to do. Just as you are, of course. And I stand by my opinion, as being true. People DO spend money on their nails, when they don't have enough saved for emergences or retirement.

This is just one more thing the middle class chooses to pay money for that the can do for themselves, or do without easily.
Which is fine, it's your money.
The problem creeps up when people think bottled water, monthly manipedis, landscape service, maid service, daily trip to starbucks, etc., are necessary and factor into the baseline cost of living, and then they say things like my dad provided for all of us on just one salary, money doesn't go as far now.
It's my theory that strip malls come as kits, and the last three boxes hold a turnkey convenience store, karate dojo and nail salon. They're open for business before the parking lot gets painted.
All stupid offensive sidetracking aside, I never fail to be amazed at how many nail salons any given area can hold. Sometimes two or three to a larger strip. Even assuming all woman are athletic contortionists, I have to assume that many of these places are just money-laundering fronts.
Why do we care how many nail salons there are? People who like acrylics can get them. People who aren't into them can not. People who want mani/pedis can have them, people who don't can buy a mani/pedi set at Walmart for about $5-$6.
How many fast food restaurants are there, vs. how many nail salons? I don't get the nail salon bashing considering that only people who want them are customers.
I worked in a salon/spa for awhile and I saw as many if not more male customers getting massages than women. Some even got regualr facials. It's not GIRLIE (I am pretty sure "gurlie" isn't even a real word) it's called self care, and there is not a thing wrong with it.
Didja notice I put a smiley after that statement? People are free to do whatever they want with their money, I just choose not to have a manicure.
To the OP, I doubt the percentage of obese people that use nail salon's services is not as large as you think. People like to pamper themselves, and if they can afford it, why not?
Here's just one example of why we should care about the proliferation of nail salons. You can find many, many more with research but I chose this as The Guardian is a good resource:
