Most of my jeans (and slacks for that matter) are skinny ankle style. They look great with sandals or ballet-type flats.

But now that I live in Utah, which has actual winters, I'm trying to figure out how to dress! Maybe I just need winter time jeans that will look ok with shoes and socks? That means I need new flats that look ok with socks, which so far I have not found at all. Ugh. If I wear boots do I need boot-cut jeans (slightly flared)? Or just wear my skinny ankle jeans, but roll them up to the top of the boot? (because they never stay smoothly tucked inside).

I just spent several hours shopping for cold weather jeans and shoes that will work together and I am failing miserably!

Help!

P.S. I can't do much of a heel at all, and I hate boots like Uggs.

The current look I'm seeing is still skinny jeans tucked into boots. Just focus on getting the right boots and the rest won't matter.

Here's what I do and it keeps my jeans neatly tucked inside my boots:

Go to the fabric store and buy two sets of mitten clips and some inch wide elastic.

https://www.joann.com/prym-dritz-mit.../prd49647.html

Clip them to the bottom of each side of your pants leg. Measure enough elastic to go under your foot and up to the other clip plus extra for attaching to the clips.

Stitch the elastic to the clips.

Now you have a pair that will transfer to whatever pants you want to wear.

It's time to wear mine here and I'm tearing the bedroom apart trying to find them. I suspect the cat!

Yeah the ones I ordered don't have that but I can't remember the brand name. There are a ton of options online if people don't want to make their own.

One of my favorite looks is black skinny jeans tucked into tall Frye boots, or cowboy boots, turtleneck, blazer.

Unless you're outside for a long time in very cold weather, any old jeans should suffice provided your feet and upper body are covered appropriately.
