It's hard for me to find pants that fit - I found a pair of wide leg pants on sale that I like and look good on - BUT...are these out of style now (is that why they were on sale?) - or will they be around for awhile?

Well - are you talking about palazzo pants or gauchos or what? Jeans w/ wide boot cut legs or more like bell bottoms? Do they flare at at the bottom like bell bottoms or just full and fall straight from waist? And what fabric?
Most likely, you are fine! They are not "out" - altho I think something exaggerated in jeans might look dated.
I love palazzo pants and even use them for evening.
I think if you look good in your new pants- then you go for it!!! The thing about fashion is - doesn't matter how in or out something is - it is what looks good on you - flatters you - and makes you feel good about yourself and how you look.
If you look on a website that sells trends like Newport News, you will see they are definitely in. I like them as they make my legs and hips disappear more.
The key point is you say they look good on you. I think anything goes except those awful pants with narrow bottoms (soccer mom jeans). Now, I wouldn't go buying 10 pairs of extremely wide leg, but a few is OK.
Great, they do look nice - they start the flare just above the knee and get fuller at the bottom. It seem though that I should wear a fitted top or else look like a balloon (I'm petite). They're a brown/light tan/pale yellow "subtle plaidish" poly blend (almost a menswear design).
