Why do they insist on making mens shorts with pockets everything falls out of when you sit down ?

I don't know why they do this, either. Pocket issues are one of my pet peeves, lol. For example, why do so many women's pants have no front pockets or worse, fake pockets?
Anyhow, Cabela's has some with deep pockets and TROD makes a deep-pocket short for men; they are on Amazon. You could go with cargo shorts as well if you don't mind them. A search on Amazon/Google for 'deep pocket shorts' might yield more results but those are the two brands I know of offhand.
The best kind of pockets would be like back jeans pockets...on the FRONT. Vertical opening, rather than side opening. I've seen something like that on Brady Bunch. They looked pretty secure. I wonder why no one has used that design.
Maybe someone could invent a pocket fixer kit of some sort and sell it on an infomercial. Like glue on velcrow.
I can see the infomercial now
Do your shorts have sh!tty pockets ? When you sit down does sh*t fall out ?
Then show a dramatization of a cell phone falling out on an airplane seat and wallet or car key falling out on a train when the person gets off then the train leaving the station and the person panicking when they find that sh*t-fall-out pockets struck again and them running after the train but are to slow.
Then show the wallet lost person at DMV being told they need ID to get an ID and then person saying WTF if I had an ID I would not be here to get one you dumbass.
Then show your product and how it can prevent these situations.
I am surprised that manufacturers and clothing designers haven't picked up on our cell/smart phone centric society and made pockets more accommodating and secure all across the board.
Someone should start a line of clothing with attractive, cell phone friendly pockets as their main selling point, I bet it would be a hit.
I have an issue at times with any pants I wear that have side pockets. I guess there's more of a chance of having a problem if I'm very active. But usually, if I position the objects in my pocket a certain way, I can keep them from falling out. With side pocket pants, you just have to be more careful. It is nice if athletic shorts or sweatpants zip up, since running or doing exercise routines can make it more likely for objects to fall out of the pockets.
I would guess for the same reason they make the pockets in women's winter coats so shallow you risk losing your gloves.........to save money on fabric.
Exactly!! To cut expenses by cutting down on the amount of fabric that goes into the finished product. Pockets on women's jeans and pants have become increasingly shallow over the past few decades. Some jeans I've seen (so called "fashion jeans") have pockets that are only a few inches deep.
