I use self tanner or bronzer..I have Eastern European complexion that looks horrible pale-- everyone else is darker in my family but I...otherwise I wear sunblock every day winter or summer....and my preteen does too...not worth getting cancer or wrinkles over and there are quality self tanners out that may you lookn great! I get compliments on my "tan" all the time
I'm Midle Eastern and i'm very pale. It doesn't really look good because my hair is very dark. Luckily I have the right features or else pale skin and black hair would look bad.
Last time I got a real good tan was 5 years ago. I'm thinking of tanning again soon because i'm getting a but too pale, but i'm kinda scared to do it. So many people get skin cancer these days.
I perfer looking at people without a tan. There are plenty of people with a natural dark color so being pale adds variety. Besides, you get all the sun you need from being in the shade, and that will tan you a bit.
I quit tanning my face back in the 80's when I was 18. I saw a picture of Christy Brinkley tanning her body with a big sunhat over her face and I figured she was a good role .And i endured life as a pale long enough to enjoy all the natural looking self tanners that are available today. When I see young women frying their eye area in the direct sun it is all I can do not to throw something over their faces. So hopefully some young women will see this and take my advice, here where I can rant without ruining someone's moment in the sun: s, believe it or not, you may want to look good over the age of 30, life is not over at 23 so take some pride in your faces and protect them from the sun. Just like Christy and I you may find yourselves looking for love (again) in your 30's and beyond.
It's very difficult, when you've grown up tanning (remember baby oil????) and it was a MOST accepted thing! Now, the damage is done, and without some color, you look just horribly dreadful! Damaged skin is NOT pretty without color!
Jergen's is helpful, but the odor is awful! And the feel of it--not at all moisturizing, IMO. I will use it, but it's simply not the same.
And, there's the reading a good book at the pool---what do you do, if you don't go to the beach or the pool?????? See, this has been my summer life .... I'm totally at a loss!
I'm mostly Eastern European/Ashkenazi Jewish so it doesn't take much to make me get DARK. Ever since I was young, I'd had to get the most heavy duty sunscreen and I still get a deep tan through it regardless of how much I reapply.
Lately, my medication has made me start to burn so even walking into town covered in sunscreen can give me burns on my shoulders. Not cool.
You need sunscreen for sure Char......... - I just wish I had SOME color, I just cannot do the WHITE legs thing (we're talking Casper) - even when I played "sun goddess" my legs never tanned well, arms and back do - I'll stick w/the self-tanner on the legs and normal sun exposure for the rest of my body. I'm Scots/Irish/Italian/German - I think - LOL
Anybody have a Self-tanner they like? I don't like the Jergen's - rubs off on the sheets. I loved a Neutrogena and a Bath & Body Works (of course they don't make it any more, if I like a product, it gets discontinued) - such is my life.
I loved that Bath & Body works tanner you mentioned. Of course anything good is always discontinued - like my bra, my jeans, etc. etc.
I have to stop tanning -
I have my own sprayer. I spray my sister and she sprays me. It's so much cheaper than a tanning bed and a lot less harmful.
