OP, I hope you don't mind me saying this but you don't need people's permission, approval, or historical precedent from 17th century to wear make-up. The decision to alter your appearance -- be it with a touch of foundation cream, an unconventional haircut, or unique combination of clothes among other things -- is yours and yours alone. If it makes you feel good and puts a smile on your face then do it; you will light up the world with your self-confidence and emotional fortitude.

When it comes to appearance you don't have to justify your choices or explain them to anyone. The question is not should you tell people about make-up but why should they bother about it. And if they do then that's their loss. You be you, OP. I hope you find your inner strength and surround yourself with those who can let you and your confidence flourish.

As for Newton, I think it's good to recognise admirable qualities in others that you may want to emulate but always remember that everyone has a dark side. Newton may well have been a man of high intellect but he was also a man of many flaws. Arrogant, petty, rude, a person who spent an inordinate amount of time carrying grudges and literally waited years for someone to die only to have the last word in an argument, unable to handle criticism, and hellbent on keeping the spotlight on himself and away from his competition. Whilst I hold Newton in great esteem for his contribution to science, as a person he was not someone I'd base my moral compass on. This is, of course, my opinion and I am not saying you should abandon your model, just don't rush to put people on pedestals

In XVII century it was a normal fashion for men to wear powdered curly wigs or long hair, lots of lace, ribbons and ruffles, colourful stockins, baggy knee long breeches and luxurious fabrics.
As the century went on, some men used makeup, but in a more discreet way with flesh-coloured powder and a dab of rouge.
It was an era of "dress to impress".

Nowadays, generally men don't wear make-up, though...
However, as the rules of gender presentation become more and more flexible, makeup continues to slowly infiltrate some men's everyday routines.
Nothing flashy, but a little concealer on a blemish here, a little brow gel there. Gender-neutral ad campaigns from brands like Milk Makeup help the denaturalization of makeup as a feminine endeavor.

I think if the OP wants to wear makeup, he should. But doing so because Isaac Newton did makes no sense. My goodness, Newton lived hundreds of years ago. Fashions changed many, many times since he lived.

But if wearing makeup gives the OP feelings of insecurity, or worry, I think he should wait to do this until he feels more secure.
