That's tough. I don't wear a lot of jewelry. But what I do wear has great sentimental value. I wear a pendant that was made from a ring my mother used to wear (three pendants were created from this ring ... my sister an niece have the others), and a ring that was custom made to feature the engagement diamonds of my grandmother and two great-grandmothers. I could easily give up fashion jewelry, but it would be hard to give up meaningful pieces.
But on the other hand, I enjoy makeup. I like the routine, the artistry, and the polished look that it gives me.
I didn't vote because I haven't worn makeup in decades (I'm 66). I just don't like the way it feels on my face- like it's smothering my pores. Who knows what I've saved all these years by not wearing any, but I've more than made up for it on the jewelry side!
When I retired and relocated to FL both my make-up AND jewelry wound up in storage for 7 weeks. Since I've moved I've worn makeup exactly twice--once for Christmas and once to get my new driver's license. I can pretty much get by with mascara and lip color but these days I don't even do that.
At this stage of the game, who do I have to impress??

Hee hee... yes, I am a jewelry hound.....makeup is not a necessity.

I agree and it seems like makeup always finds it way to my eyes and regardless of the brand ("hypoallergenic", products included) it makes my eyes water and swells my eyelids. As far as jewelry I only wear the sentimental pieces from my husband and children, no fashion jewelry other than the small earring pieces I design.
